Before the Cloudburst

*This post was written about 5 weeks ago before Hurricane Sandy. It was a submission for a well know magazine. I will keep you guys posted on the outcome of my submission, as I'm still waiting to hear back. I just thought I'd share this will you all. Hope you guys enjoy the photos.*

As the East Coast awaits Hurricane Sandy, myself and others have been scrambling to get prepared for her. I have bought food, water, batteries, candles, and whatever else you would need to survive a storm. I assume that we will be without electricity for a couple of days and I really think the storm is going to bring on the winter weather. I took this day to soak up the last little bit of warmth. So, in true fashionista form I wanted to give my fave summer pieces one last encore.

I'm totally in love with this silhouette. It has definitely become my default look. Some would say that the poncho/flowy/over sized blouses are a bit "big girl cliche" but paired with skinnys (or even leather or textured shorts, for added edge) it gives you a chic and trendy look. To add a little spunk to my look, I opted for teal jeggings instead of classic denim. Teal is a classic color and it is now my new neutral. To add some Fall elements I paired my outfit with chestnut fringed booties and rich color blocked accessories. I'm really not a bag person so it was pure luck that my current purse went seamlessly with my getup. Yea, I'm definitely not one of those girls who changes bags with every outfit. Sorry guys, I'm just not that girl lol.

While taking the photos, you could literally see the storm making its way in. The calm before the storm is so beautiful to me. I just had to take full advantage of the scenery.
